TeamBuilder 2 has arrived

Over the last decade, around 2,000 Kiwi clubs and schools have used the TeamBuilder utility from Sporty to drag & drop registered players into hundreds of thousands of teams, and for those teams to become entered into competitions.

Sporty announced a major upgrade for TeamBuilder for 2024 and beyond. The new version is called TeamBuilder 2 (Blue).

What’s changed?

  • TeamBuilder 2 looks similar to the old version but it’s coloured blue to make it clear which version you’re using.
  • You can easily use TeamBuilder 2 from your phone, so clubs/schools can allocate players into teams even when away from a computer.
  • You can select multiple players at once to allocate them all into a team, as well as drag & drop for individual players.
  • It’s now easier for competition organisers to manage grades and help clubs/schools manage their team entries.
  • It gives team managers a link (URL) that can be shared with people so they can register directly with a team if you wish (optional).
  • TeamBuilder 2 makes it easier to see if a team isn’t yet eligible. For example, if a team has insufficient players or coaches, or if some players haven’t completed mandatory fields or accepted the Terms & Conditions.
  • It is organised into different competitions for each sport, so it simplifies the view for clubs/schools by only showing the competitions and grades relevant to them.
  • Team Managers/Coaches can see contact information for their team members, and easily send them group communications.

What does it cost?

$0 free. TeamBuilder 2 is being supplied by Sporty without charge as part of our programme of continuous improvements to the platform.

Who gets it and when?

All sports organisations in New Zealand are able to get TeamBuilder 2 from 1st February 2024. TeamBuilder 2 has some customised features that are specific to individual sports codes. Those custom features are being released progressively sport by sport, often to align with the dates that each sport commences their next season.

What about training and support?

TeamBuilder 2 does everything the old TeamBuilder did and more, so if you’ve used TeamBuilder before, the new version should feel familiar to you (except that it’s coloured blue). There's comprehensive online support for TeamBuilder 2 at the Sporty Knowledge Centre here.

Training will also be included in the Sporty workshops for sports administrators that are being provided throughout approximately 20 cities across New Zealand in February 2024 (workshop times and venues are here).
